Testing Population and Individual Bioequivalence: A Hierarchical Bayesian Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
The US Food and Drug Administration has recommended statistical guidelines that introduce two new bioequivalence criteria: population bioequivalence (PBE) and individual bioequivalence (IBE). In this paper we propose a hierarchical Bayesian methodology for evaluating these recently introduced criteria. We derive the joint posterior distribution of the parameters involved in a crossover design and propose two Bayesian testing procedures for bioequivalence. The method is also extended to incorporate the t distribution in order to facilitate a more robust approach. All methods are illustrated using a popular dataset. ∗Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA, 30303-3083, USA, Email: [email protected] †Department of Statistics, Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, e-mail: [email protected].

asset pricing anomalies at the firm level
Anomaly is deviation from common rules and in finance it can be defined as a pattern in the average of stock return that is not consistent with the prevailing asset pricing models literature. For anomaly investigation two common methods are used: portfolio approach and individual firm approach. This paper wants to shed light on anomalies of capital asset pricing model at the individual firm lev...
متن کاملBootstrap and MLS methods-based individual bioequivalence assessment
It is a one-sided hypothesis testing process for assessing bioequivalence. Bootstrap and modified large-sample(MLS) methods are considered to study individual bioequivalence(IBE), type I error and power of hypothesis tests are simulated and compared with FDA(2001). The results show that modified large-sample method is equivalent to the method of FDA(2001) . Keywords—individual bioequivalence; b...
متن کاملA semi-parametric Bayesian approach to average bioequivalence.
Bioequivalence assessment is an issue of great interest. Development of statistical methods for assessing bioequivalence is an important area of research for statisticians. Bioequivalence is usually determined based on the normal distribution. We relax this assumption and develop a semi-parametric mixed model for bioequivalence data. The proposed method is quite flexible and practically meaning...
متن کاملBayesian Analysis of Population Bioequivalence Using the Independence Chain Algorithm in PROC MIXED
The statistical test for population bioequivalence given in the current FDA guidance document on this matter ignores the dependence between summary statistics. It is very conservative in cases where there is a high degree of correlation of subject responses between test and reference formulations, which is usually the case in bioequivalence studies. Adapting the ideas of Kass and Wolfinger (200...
متن کاملAssessment of the Risk of Individual and Occupational Factors Affecting the Causes of Occupational Accidents in the Construction Industry Using the Fuzzy Hierarchical Analysis Approach: A Case Study in Kurdistan Province, Iran
Background and Aim: Based on the Iranian Social Security Organization statistics, in 2012 the accidents occurring in the construction industry accounted for 26% of all the occupational accidents in the country. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the individual and occupational risk factors affecting the causes of occupational accidents in this industry using the fuzzy hierarchical ...
